Nomination Process for Nurse Practitioner Representative on the Joint Committee for Alabama Purpose: To select a qualified and committed Nurse Practitioner (NP) who will serve as the NP representative on the Joint Committee for Alabama. This individual will work collaboratively with medical counterparts and represent the interests and practice of all NPs across the state by reviewing and recommending protocols impacting NP practice in Alabama. 1. Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the nominee must: Be a licensed NP in good standing in the State of Alabama. Hold national certification in their NP specialty. Have a minimum of 5 years of clinical NP experience. Demonstrate experience in leadership, advocacy, or involvement in professional organizations. Be willing and able to attend committee meetings and represent the interests of all NPs in Alabama. Possess a strong understanding of NP scope of practice and regulatory policies in the state. 2. Nomination Period: The nomination window will be open for 14 days, beginning on July 1, 2025 and ending on July 14, 2025. 3. Nomination Submission: Each nomination package must include: Completed nomination form, by clicking register on the left side of the screen. Self-nominations are allowed. Current CV or résumé. A one-page statement of interest, including the nominee’s vision for NP practice in Alabama and their ability to collaborate across disciplines. Two letters of support (One letter must be from employer releasing you to attend meeting, the other can be from a peer, supervisor, or professional colleague). Review & Selection Committee: A selection panel will be convened, consisting of representatives from the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama, the executive and steering committees, as well as academic and clinical NP leaders. The panel will ensure diverse representation across backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to promote fair and balanced decision-making. The committee will review all complete applications and evaluate candidates based on: Professional qualifications Leadership experience Commitment to advancing NP practice Ability to collaborate and represent diverse NP voices 5. Selection & Notification: Finalists may be contacted for an interview. The selected candidate will be notified by August 1, 2025, with public announcement to follow. Term of service will be [e.g., 2 years] with opportunity for reappointment if applicable. 6. Responsibilities of the Selected Representative: Serve as the voice for all Alabama NPs on the Joint Committee. Attend 90% scheduled committee meetings. Provide regular updates to NP professional bodies. Seek input from the NP community on pending issues or proposed protocols. Advocate for evidence-based practices and equitable policies.
