Birmingham, Alabama, October 28, 2017: Now in its 11th year, the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama (NPAA) recently celebrated best practices in advanced nursing along with important clinical and pharmacology updates in its annual conference, held at the Hyatt Wynfrey Hotel. The two-day meeting included more than a dozen innovative sessions led by notable experts; exciting speakers; informative issue forums; and opportunities to network with over 200 professionals who strive to empower Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in Alabama.

“As an organization, NPAA is committed to building partnerships and advocating for professional privileges consistent with our educational preparation and advocating for issues which are important to Nurse Practitioners. NPAA also strives to improve the health and welfare of Alabama’s citizens by enhancing the healthcare delivery system within our state,” said Susan Alexander, NPAA President.

On Friday, October 27th, NPAA opened the doors to more than 200 participants featuring interactive discussions with experts in the field of diabetes, delirium prevention, and adolescent sickle cell disease. Awards were given to deserving NPs from across the state. In addition, NPAA unveiled a new website with improved functionality and enhanced rich content focused on NPAA’s mission.

Saturday’s sessions were focused on the required 4-hour continuing education requirement for renewal of the Qualified Alabama Controlled Substances Certificate for NPs who have the authority to prescribe Controlled Substances.
